Turning the theoretical principles taught in lectures into practical reality far removed from the normal daily student routine, and to have fun doing it, that is the goal of the ExperimentalRaumfahrt-InteressenGemeinschaft [Experimental Spacecraft Interest Group] e.V.
ERIG is a student interest group founded in 1999 at the TU Braunschweig. Our projects revolve around the design and construction of experimental sounding rockets, which deliver scientific experiments into higher atmospheric levels, the development of small satellites and a ground station, as well as the development of high-altitude balloon systems and experiments.
The members of ERIG are students and teaching staff from all areas of study and from all semesters. Most of us are aerospace or electrical engineers, but we are open to people from all disciplines. Our members therefore also include humanities and social scientists, computer scientists, and physicists.
Our working rooms are located at the Institute for Space Systems (IRAS) [Institut für Raumfahrtsysteme] at the research airport.
If you are interested in our work, just come by on Tuesday at 6 pm for our weekly meetings. You can also participate in our meetings via Discord, however we highly recommend you come in person so that we can give you a tour of our rooms and show you our projects.
